Wyatt's First Birthday!

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

My sweet Wyatt is one year old!  We will soon get back his one year portraits, so for now I will have to post some of the little pictures I have taken.  Here is a little update on this handsome little guy: He pulls up on everything.  He cruises on furniture and even pushes off and stands for a few seconds.
Wyatt has developed a terrible shriek, which is ear piercing, and rivals Hadley's 3 year old screams.  I may be going deaf in one ear.  Wyatt licks everything...the couch, tables, my face, his food (and then he refuses to eat it).  He is not a good eater, and it is so much work to get this little guy to eat an adequate amount.  He wasn't even that into his cupcakes for his birthday.
He likes to watch Hadley play outside.  I push her on the swing while hollering at him to get the rocks out of his mouth.  They still have so much fun together.  She gets after him when he climbs the stairs.  She gets really worried.  She likes to help feed him.  He has fun climbing on her and they like to 'wrestle.'

The big one year old!!! He sampled the cupcake and then decided that was enough.
Wyatt likes to sample things like tables and chairs.  But he refuses to eat food.  Strange kid.
Wyatt had his first camping trip in August, too.  The big guy was great until night time.  We brought his porta crib, but instead he ended up in my tight mummy bag with me.  Not the greatest night.  I think it took me the next 2 days to recover.  Hadley did great, though.  Despite it all, though, we have been camping 2 more times since.  And each time has been equally unpleasant with Wyatt.

Wyatt's Nine Month Photos

Wednesday, July 4, 2012

I know, I am a total slacker.  My last post was when Wyatt was 6 months, and now he turns 11 months in a few days!  I could use a busy summer, unexpected trips, etc. as excuses.  But I won't, because the real reason is that I am not that motivated with the blog.  I post pics on facebook and it seems more people check that then blogs.  But, I decided to update the blog regardless, so I will try to be as concise and possible with this much of a gap between posts.

Wyatt turns 11 months in two days.  These pictures are from when he was 9 months, but honestly, I think he still looks about the same.  He may have a tiny bit more hair now, but he is still very bald.  He babbles and screeches all the time, but has somewhat of a soft yet still high-pitched voice.  He scoots everywhere on his belly, even though he is capable of crawling.  He has done it a few times, and still prefers to scoot.  This seems to be a pattern for him.  That's what he did with rolling.  He showed us he knew how, and then wouldn't do it again for a long time.

He tries to pull up on things...as of just this week.  He gets halfway up the couch and screams because he is stuck and can't stand up the rest of the way.  For about a week now he scoots over the stairs and puts his hands on the first one and sort of stands and screeches if Hadley and I go upstairs without him.  Today Chris told me he got all the way up on the first stair and was starting the second.  I guess the baby gates will have to be brought out from the garage soon.  Too bad!
Wyatt likes to pull my hair now.  He still laughs at Hadley over most anything.  He has been sleeping through the night now for a week for every night but two.  Well, we assume he is.  At 10 months we felt he is well and capable, so all the doors get shut and it he cries, well, we must not be hearing him.  He has had two nights where he did cry and I heard him, so I got up and fed him, but the rest of the nights have been uninterrupted.  Chris wanted to do this sooner, but I was so reluctant because it makes me dry up faster for breastfeeding.  But I have to say, it is nice sleeping through the night more often now!
Wyatt is "less mature" as Hadley was at this age according to Chris.  And I guess I do agree.  He takes longer to reach some of these developmental milestones, but there is no doubt that he is reaching them.  He isn't a needy baby at all, but Hadley started off so independent, that it is so different for us!  He really is still quite easy, and everyone notices it.  But he is doing what many babies start doing between 6-8 months.  So he just takes his time.  He does say "Momma" now, though, and that makes me happy.  He waves hi and goodbye sometimes.
I think Wyatt and Hadley have a special little relationship.  She likes to let me know when he has woken up from naps, and she enjoys going in to his room to greet him.  She tickles him and blows raspberries on his belly.  She even tries to change his diapers once in a while and gets mad when he wiggles and squirms away from her.
This little man has a special place in our hearts.  His smile and happy demeanor bring such joy to our home.  His fuzzy bald head probably gets rubbed a dozen times a day by us, and his chubby cheeks covered with kisses.  Hadley does on occasion tease him, a true older sister.  But it doesn't usually last long.  You can see an example of this below.  She got sick of having her picture taken and decided it was more fun to stick pebbles down Wyatt's shirt.  Had to capture that one!

Wyatt is 6 months!

Friday, February 17, 2012

Our sweet boy is 6 months old! Time has passed so fast! He is a little less snuggly than he used to be but every bit as sweet.

Wyatt is now 17 lbs 9 oz. He is in the 50th percentile for height and weight. He used to be in the 78th for weight, but he seems to be evening out. He is heavy to me, though, because Hadley was (and still is) quite the lightweight.

Wyatt has learned to blow raspberries, and when we try to feed him baby food he blows them and spits baby food bits all over you. He really has no interest in baby food, so I guess we will wait another few weeks and see if he will eat it better then. He is actually quite a lazy little bugger. He knows how to roll. He did it before Thanksgiving. A few times. And since then he has done it...only a few more times. (Once of course, was right off of the couch!) He usually just lays there content and staring, although once in a while he will roll halfway, to one side, and then decide that to finish the roll would be too much effort. And so he returns to the original position.

He enjoys rocking in the rocking chair, splashing in the tub, crinkly books and the occasional stuffed animal. He still is content to be held, especially at dinner time. He takes quite a few naps during the day, and I just let him nap when he wants.

When he decides to regulate them he can, but 3-4 naps a day is alright with me.

And that brings us to the night time. I can count on one hand the times I have gotten 5 or more hours of consecutive sleep. He is playing us. He wakes up to eat, but it has become apparent that he doesn't to as much as he thinks. And then sometimes...gasp! He just wakes up to say hi and get a snuggle. So we have started to let him fuss more. Luckily he never really screams. His fussing escalates, but not to where it is breaking your heart like the screamers. Other than the nights he is the absolute most perfect and sweet baby. He loves his big sister. All she has to do is smile or laugh at him, and it erupts big fits of giggles from him. She play wrestles with him, and he has started to grab her hair, which she doesn't like much, but she doesn't get too upset with him. We stole the idea of the little feet picture below from pinterest. Cute! We are celebrating out 5th year anniversary this year, so it makes for a fun anniversary picture, too!
Maybe the next update I do our little lazy man will be a little more motivated. On the upside, my snuggle days with him are lasting longer and we won't have an early walker on our hands. I am fine with that!

Three Months Old!

Monday, November 14, 2011

Wyatt is 3 months old! He looks almost exactly like Hadley did at this age...except he has slightly less hair. What can I say...he is still so young so it's not like I have a big list of his latest developments. He smiles, coos and sometimes outrightly laughs. He likes to be tickled and is so tolerant with Hadley giving him raspberries anytime she sees his bare belly. He is wearing 3-6 months, and his 0-3 month clothing is pretty much to small now. He loves swings and bouncy seats that vibrate. He is a bit needy, and it is clear that he loves to bed held and snuggled. This week we are going to start some sleep training as I have been a sucker. When he needs to eat at night I take him into the guest room and we end up staying there the rest of the night. Honestly, I don't mind...I like it because I am a snuggler. Chris won't snuggle me at night, so I love that Wyatt likes snuggles. But, last night he really woke up about every 1.5 hours to 2 hours. He has been going to bed earlier now, around 8:30 or 9, but we need to work on during the night. So I think feedings will now be in the rocking chair. Hadley enjoys playing with Wyatt. In general, she is very loving to him. It will be fun as he gets older to see them interact. I hope she continues to be good to him.
Wyatt still is a bit wobbly, and doesn't hold his head up as well and strong as Hadley did at this age. It is like he just doesn't care. He hasn't tried to roll over. I think he may be a little lazy.
I love this squishy little man! I feel so amazingly blessed to have 2 healthy beautiful children. It is fun to have a girl and a boy, too! I am SO looking forward to this holiday season where we get to be with family and Hadley and Wyatt can get to play with cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and friends.

On October 1st we went to the opening event of the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. We went last year, and were not planning on going this year because its more trouble with a new baby. You have to get up at like 4am, but we decided to venture out and do it anyways because Hadley LOVES the hot air balloons. We thought she would absolutely love it. She liked riding the school bus to the park, and she did like seeing the balloons, but she gave us a headache whining and being angry because she couldn't ride in one. We thought, "Maybe it's not worth it!" But she is still talking about how much fun she had with the balloons, and everytime she sees a school bus she talks about getting to ride one. So, I guess it was worth it. A new record was set for the most balloons being set off in an hour. I don't remember how many. Seemed about the same as last year, but either way it is exciting and the pictures just don't do it justice. It is cold early in the morning, so we needed hats and coats. Wyatt helped keep me warm in the carrier.
Hadley would reach up to the sky and yell, "I can't reach it!" She cracked everyone up as a balloon right near us was rising saying, "Uh oh! There is goes!" Every grandma-aged woman near by laughed and commented on Hadley. She loves to ride Daddy's shoulders, but it never lasts real long because she pulls his hair. She has done this since she was a baby, but she is not a baby, so you would think she would get it. But no, she still pulled his hair.

Among all the crowds I still ran into a friend!

Two Month Old Baby!!!

Thursday, October 6, 2011

My sweet Wyatt is two months old today! He had his checkup and boy, he is different than Hadley! He weighs 12 lbs. 10 oz and is in the 78% for weight. Hadley has always been consistently in the 25%. He is 23 inches long, which is in the 50%, and his head is 15.75 inches and is in the 20%. The doctor commented on what a chunker he is. He did not get shots, so it was just a check-up and he will go back at 4 months. I always thought my kids would be a bit skinny as babies since Hadley was. But this kid is an eater! He is a sweet baby, and a little on the needy side. He loves to snuggle and be held, and I know, I indulge him in this too much. But it is so much more fun to hold my little man than do chores that need to be done! He has been smiling for about a week now, and if we are lucky, he may give us a little giggle here and there. He is starting to try to 'talk' with us and coos.
He has a special relationship with his daddy. Chris is good about giving both the kids one on one time with him. On the weekends he and Hadley go to Costco together. They have a blast and often share a smoothie or churro. And when I play soccer during the week Chris puts Hadley down for bed and hangs out with Wyatt. I come home to him holding Wyatt (sometimes because he is being needy and just plain wants to be held).
Wyatt has started to sleep better in the last week or so! He goes down late still, around 10:30 or 11, and he has been sleeping until 3am or 3:30. It is heaven! He then wakes up for another feeding around 6am.
We are SO grateful for this amazing blessing in our lives! I feel so lucky to spend my days with my two kiddos. I had some conflicting feelings for the first few weeks of Wyatt's life, but now that I have been able to get back into my routine of playing soccer, running and an occasional girls night out, I feel more settled. And Wyatt has been establishing a routine, too. He naps around the same time everyday, and the nights aren't as bad.

Pre-Wyatt Family and Pregnancy Photos

Thursday, September 15, 2011

A few weeks before Wyatt was born (about 3) my friend's husband took our pictures at this fabulous park downtown. Hadley was not very cooperative, as she just wanted to run crazy, so there aren't a whole lot of family ones. Some of just Hadley and I were taken about a week earlier, and those should be one their way soon.

This picture below was the only one I took leaning against the tree because soon after I realized all these trees were crawling with little nasty worms. I had the boys inspect me and my hair for them after and then steered clear of the trees.

Chris and Hadley sure are buddies! I can't wait to frame this picture and hang it up in our house!
